Anyone know if Yaz helps with acne? I had been on different acne medicines but my body grew immune to them. Recently my doctor put me on a different antibiotic and 2 different face creams and said if it didn't work to try Yaz. After a few weeks the antibiotic wasn't working so I bought the Yaz pills today. Do they really clear acne? What other things do I need to do to help clear my acne? I am 18 years old and bad acne mostly on my forehead and some on my cheeks.

K C replied: "Yaz does improve acne. At least it did for me. If I'm not taking it my skin is out of control. It takes a few months to get the full effect so you will have to be patient to find out if it works for you. Be sure to read up of the side effect and watch for interactions like antibiotics. damn_da_ds replied: "Yaz is supposed to make hormonal acne (androgen acne) better because of the drospirenone in it. if it's excessive androgen that makes your skin overly oily and not other reasons (stress, weather, a lack of routine cleaning, etc), yaz should have a certain effect counteracting what androgen does to your skin. HOWEVER, there are also side effects associated with taking yaz that you should be aware of... FDA recently ordered yaz to revise their tv commercial because they are exaggerating it as an acne treatment and downplaying its possible side effects. so make sure you know all these before deciding on yaz. other things you SHOULD do: 1. drink A LOT of water - that's the ultimate magic formula everyone ignores 2. exercise - sweating helps you get rid of the excessive oil you have on your skin (granted you wish your face after exercising). so does sauna, actually. just go to a gym and you will find all these 3. eat plenty of veggies w/ vitamin c"

How long before your acne clears on Yaz? I'm on my 6th day of Yaz and so far I haven't noticed a difference in my skin. I have moderate acne and am hoping Yaz helps clear it. How long does it take?

J G replied: "My friend loved how it cleared up her acne......she was only on it 2 months though because af nausea issues. There is a chance it will help with your acne, but it only can if your acne is hormone related. Give it a month or 2, though if its going to help with acne you will probabaly start to see improvemtn in the next week or 2"

How is Yaz working for your acne? I am switching from Yasmin to Yaz to hopefully help with my acne. What has your experience been with Yaz? How long until you noticed an improvement of your skin?

I dont have acne, but I do have discoloration along with dark spots, and dry skin, and the Yaz make my skin even tone. It even added a glow to it. I loved it! Madona replied: "You should see a dermatologist. I also had moderate acne, so i didn't think that it was bad enough to see a doctor about, but no store product worked for me. And if you're starting to get scars, then that's just another reason why you should go to a derm, before the scars just get worse. Will yaz help acne on chest and back? I just started taking yaz for my acne and hormones, and I was wondering if yaz will also help clear up acne on the chest and back?

georgie porgie replied: "1. don't touch it. if you know you can pop it..then pop it. 2. it's what you EAT. some people are born with godly skin. some people like us..are not. 3. wash your face morning and night. wash with WARM/HOT water for about a min or so. then wash again with COOL/COLD water after. hot water opens up your pores...lets the stuff inside come out..then cold water closes it back up. but wash GOOD! 4. don't scrub your face off...gentle! be GENTLE!! don't worry...i've been fighting acne for....umm...a long time haha. and i'm only 18. you gotta give yourself some slack. take it easy..and don't htink about it too much."

Jess replied: "It can help with the pimples that are caused by periods. No birth control makes you gain or lose weight. Yaz is supposed to help you with all the PMS symptoms: cramps, bloating, irritability, breakouts, fatigue, etc. I was taking Yaz, and I didn't like it. All I got from it was a shorter period. I don't break out when my period comes, so that wasn't a big deal, but I still had cramps and bloating and everything else that accompanies PMS."

Did YAZ birth control make you break out with acne more? I have been taking YAZ birth control for a week. Since I started taking it I have gotten horrible acne on my back chest and face. I have always had mild acne here and there but this is disgusting. My doctor told me it would help clear my skin. Has anyone else had this problem? Did it go away with prolonged use?

Agg Doll replied: "I use yasmin, which is like the generic version and I dont have that problem at all. Maybe you're body just needs some time to get used to the new hormone, just wait like a month and if it doesnt improve see your doctor."

Jess replied: "it could just be because the hormones are still new to your body in that amount at one time every day. give it a little time. 2 friends of mine are on it and got a little acne but then it went away after a few weeks of it. wait it out, see what happens. if you dont like it, ask for a different prescription."

question about YAZ birth control helping my acne and weight? Hey :) i am 17 and I just began using the birth control YAZ. it says that i helps improve acne, i am wondering if it also makes you gain weight? i want to gain about 15 pounds because i am 5"2 and weigh like 98 pounds >:O so if it gets me a little fat that will be great. have any of you guys taken it? i would like to know the results you had while taking it

Amber replied: "It will take up to 6 months to fully see a difference in your skin, I have been on YAZ for a little over a year now and my skin has cleared up tremendously As for weight gain, you will gain a little but not all at one time. That I didn't like at all because I had been trying to loose weight. But over all I have enjoyed it, I strongly recommend this birth control to anyone especially anyone with acne problems. It also helps if you clean your face really good before going to bed, or it did for me. Good Luck!"

Just Me replied: "I have been on Yaz for 1 year and 3 months. I had pretty bad acne that just lingered on my skin for years. Would you believe my skin is absolutely perfect now? It took about 1-2 months for my skin to clear up. As far as weight gain--my body has fluctuated between 129 and 133 lbs for the last year. I weighed this much even before I took the pill. So no, it did not give any weight gain whatsoever. You will notice your mood start to change a bit. Sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worse. Really, you don't start feeling normal on this pill until you're on it for a few weeks. You may spot a lot. It will take a few monthly cycles of the pill to get your period on a normal schedule. This has been my experience with Yaz. I hope it works out for you! Remember, if you're having terrible symptoms on this pill, there are always others."

What is the birth control pill that helps the MOST with acne problems? I know all birth control pills help get rid of acne, but I've heard YAZ is the best for that. I need advice and suggestions please! Thank you!

waterrafter1234 replied: "YAZ is the best for severe acne problems, but not for mild or moderate. Ortho Tricyclene is really good for the mild to moderate; I took it for a while and loved it. It made my hair nicer too, somehow."

What are the side effects of "Yaz"? I need it to clear up acne? My dermatologist prescribed me "yaz" to prepare for accutane (i think). It's been a month and I feel like my attitude this whole month has been PMS-ee. I'm always moody, insecure, pissed off at people easily, etc... (i hate it and i'm not normally like that). Still confused to why "yaz" is necessary and if it's helping w. my acne?

I suggest you see a dermatologist or switch doctors. Ask for something for acne. You shouldn't be on birth control if you don't need it."
